Storm Damage Structure Assessment
Post-storm assessment checklist for evaluating structural and content damage to your property.
- 1Do not enter the structure if you suspect structural damage
- 2Check for downed power lines and gas leaks before approaching
- 3Document exterior damage: roof, windows, siding, gutters
- 4Check interior for water intrusion, ceiling damage, and flooding
- 5Cover roof breaches with tarps to prevent further water damage
- 6Board up broken windows for security
- 7Remove standing water from interior as soon as safe to do so
- 8Check for tree damage to the structure and vehicles
- 9Contact your insurance company to report the claim
